What is the Charity Fund of ESA company employees?

Several employees decided to regularly invest a part of their salary into help for people in need. This Fund associates people who are not indifferent to the destiny of the others and try to help the people in need by financial contribution. Within several months other colleagues joined our Charity Fund so that now we have 35 members, who regularly contribute into the Fund. Our employer also pays contribution to this Fund in the same amount as the other Charity Fund members together.

Who has the Charity Fund already helped to?

Contributions of our members allowed the Fund to partly finance a personal assistant for paralyzed Renata. Renata has been paralyzed since her very young age and cannot get along without a personal assistant. Governmental institutions may only propose a single option - Home for paralytic people. Thanks to the Charity Fund and the help of her assistant Renata now lives "nearly" independently in her own flat.

In 2005 we bought a wheelchair to Jiri, who lives in the Social Care Home in Sternberk. Jirka is mentally disturbed and disabled. His wheelchair allow him to get out of the walls to breath some fresh air, which had not been possible before.

In December 2005 we sent Mrs. Pekarkova, who lives alone with her 4 year old daughter suffering from poliomyelitis (she cannot speak and just lies in bed), to Ostrava for Bobato therapy, which helps to improve mobility. The therapy itself is covered by the medical insurance but Mrs. Pekarkova, who has money problems as she looks after her daughter alone, could not pay the trip and stay in Ostrava. The Charity Fund provided funds to Mrs. Pekarkova so that she could learn exercises which help her paralyzed daughter.

Since 2006 we have helped Stepanek family with their daughter Petruska. When Petruska was six months old she was vaccinated against the whooping cough. The vaccination resulted in a serious brain dysfunction. Today, Petruska is 10 years old and suffers from a serious mental and physical disability. She needs to be looked after throughout the day. Until recently, a nurse from an in-house care agency came every day to look after her. Due to restrictions in medical care, new rules have been adopted and valid since January and now the medical insurance no longer covers the in-house care in full. So now the nurse comes to Petruska for just one hour per day, every working day, which is of course not sufficient. The Charity Fund decided to help and will pay for the nurse to come and look after Petruska until this service is going to be covered by the medical insurance again.

In March 2006 we bought a side table for Veronika, who was badly injured in an accident when she was 18 years old. After the accident Veronika was one year in coma. When she regained consciousness, treatment complications, which lasted for nearly a year, did not allow her to start rehabilitation on time. Currently she has undergone a rehabilitation treatment stay in Kladruby. Unfortunately she still cannot walk and her overall motion ability is not good and she needs help of another person. Veronika needs a side table with adjustable board for her everyday life. However this table is not covered by medical insurance. We are very happy that we could offer a little help to Veronika in her sad destiny.

What are the ambitions of the Charity Fund?

We want to be close to people in need and provide the kind of help, which is frequently "omitted" by the governmental organizations, e.g. just try to make the life as easy as possible to those whose life is difficult. We have checked that a virtually insignificant 100 crown note may be of a great help, when it joins 100 crown notes of others to help a person in need.
